Windows 10: Custom Shortcuts not working in Windows 10

I've worked in Windows 7 until just recently and heavily relied on Windows shortcuts Ctrl-Alt-1 to Ctrl-Alt-6 to quickly switch between my Putty session windows, I simply had the 6 shortcuts on my desktop and added the shortcut within properties. I cannot however get this operating in windows 10 on my Dell notebook. I've seen many suggestions pointing at video drivers and game mode but feel I've eliminated all of these. I also stopped any services that to me didn't look essential but that didn't fix it. Grateful for any assistance.I forgot to mention, the shortcuts DO start the windows ini

Keyboard shortcuts to open programs:

Create a shortcut on the desktop to whatever program you want. Right click -> Properties and fill in the field there. Sadly the shortcut needs to remain on the desktop, but you can hide it.

Fun fact: If you had keyboard shortcuts for programs pinned to your Windows 7 start menu, those shortcuts still work when you update to Windows 10.

I didn't see on your list using Win-X to bring up the basic setup of system tools like the original control panel, easy access to device manager, etc. not technically a list of commands, but at least a shortcut *Smile
