Windows 10: Customizing 4-finger tap

I want to change my 4-finger tap to mute, but when I hit 'Start Recording' on my Acer laptop, it shows the mute button as 'D'. How do I configure the tap gesture to mute?My current process is Touchpad > Advanced Gestures > Configure Four-finger > Tap > Custom > Start Recording

Touchpad 3 & 4 finger tap gestures not working

i cant use the features of Touchpad 3 & 4 finger tap gestures not working
when i tap with 3 or 4 fingers it didnt respond.
when i sweep with them it work easy..but when i tap it didnt work
i tried to uninstall the Touchpad drivers on my machine
i tried to Download the driver from manufacturer’s website and run it in Compatibility mode.
and finally it didnt work
i want help

 

Customize two finger tap on a touchpad (assign middle-click)

Hello, I've recently changed OS from Win 8.1 to Win 10 and been trying to customize a two-finger tap (assign middle-click to it), but so far I wasn't able find a way for that.

That would be logical since two-finger swipe is used for scroll ("rotate mouse wheel"), therefore two-finger tap would be used for scroll mode ("press mouse wheel").

"Touchpad Settings" seem to be stored in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PrecisionTouchPad, but they just represent what can be selected in SystemSettings.exe UI (dropdown positions instead of action codes).

I have ELAN touchpad driver v22.2.18.2 as of 2020-01-13.

Usually such things would be customized in ELAN-specific tab in Mouse Properties (C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe C:\Windows\System32\shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL C:\Windows\System32\main.cpl), but the tab is absent.

How do I override the built-in restrictive settings?

Maybe there's a way to actually use ELAN configuration which allows a lot of freedom?

Three-finger or four-finger tap for middle-click is not an option to consider.

 

Touchpad: Tap twice to drag

Here's how it works standardly:

1. Tap twice
2. Hold down on the second tap
3. Move around and you're dragging
4. Release finger to stop dragging

Here's what I like it to do:

1. Tap twice
2. Hold down on the second tap
3. Move around and you're dragging
4. Release finger
5. Reposition finger and continue dragging by flicking the touchpad some more
6. (repeat steps 4 & 5 as many times as desired)
7. Release finger and perform one addditional tap to stop dragging

That's what it used to be like in the Windows 7 era with most touchpads. Some people found it annoying and disabled it, but I welcomed it.

I know dragging continues when your finger reaches the touchpad edges, but that I find greatly irritating because it looses all sense of precision. This mechanism is stupendously irritating when trying to pixel-precise drag a trackbar, or when doing some
painting in photoshop on the go. Or just anything that requires precision.

So I'd like to disable "drag continues at touchpad edge" and enable "require additional tap to stop dragging".

So how can I do that?

If not possible, then please consider this a feature request.
