  1. Cut and paste program files from C to D drive. Things went haywire. Did a system restore,...

Hi,My son ran out of space on his computer so he cut and paste all of his files from C drive to D drive. Things starting being wonky. He realized his error. We researched a solution and so he did a complete system restore, deleting all of his personal files. After the restore, his personal files are gone, but now he has program files in both C and D drive. Is there a way to correct this? We thought the system restore would remove the files on D and that the program files would only show back up in the C drive. Is there anything we can do? Thanks!

    :)

Switch C: drive with D: drive and move Program Files

I have a desktop HP computer tha has a C: drive SSD of 237 GB . Windows 10 is loaded there and by default all Program File and Program Data. The other drive D: is a Hard drive with 931 GB.

    C: is almost full.

How do I move all the Program Files etc to D: and only leave C: only for Windows and then set up the system so that all future Programs load in the D: drive.

  3. System Restore Point Questions

    Thanks, Dave!

Suppose I go back to an earlier version of C: with the desired restore point, restore from it and create a restore point on D:, then reload the current C:. Will I be able to restore from that restore point on D:?

    Step by step:

    1. Enable Restore for D:
    2. Back up the C: drive with Acronis.
    3. Restore C: to an earlier date with the desired restore point, from the Acronis backup image.
    4. Restore the system from the desired restore point.
    5. See if Restore is still enabled for D:. If not, enable it there, with the same capacity as in step 1.
    6. Disable Restore for C:.
    7. Create a restore point. Since there's no availability on C:, it should be created on D:, and be identical to the desired restore point.
    8. Now put C: back to the current version using the backup created in step 2.

Will the system now recognize that restore point on D: and let me restore from it?

(Edited to add the explanation, and step 4.)
