Windows 10: Cyclical Audio Problems

I am forced to use earphone/headphones to hear audio on my computer because my hearing is failing on my right ear. I left ear is just on for decorations. Two operations as a child never worked. Hopefully when Stimulus check comes in I can look into a new digital hearing aid for my right ear in the meantime it is critical that I have something in my ear or on my ear to hear any audio on my computer.

#1. I have address the issue that my current computer is over 8 years old and it has many problems. But the problem that I am having I do not think it is the computer's or the computer's audio jack.

#2. The sound quality is great most of the time. But the audio goes nuts just before I process a Windows 10 Update. The audio buzzes and the sound is really static. It also drops out of audio. It reminds me of the old record player needle when it would find a scratch on a record. It makes no difference if it is a youtube video, some of my personal collection of videos or my digital music collection. I would also notice the buzzing sound when my Wifi would go out.

#3. The audio had been bad about two days prior but Sunday night I downloaded and installed a new Windows 10 Vers 1909 cumulative KB update and like magic the audio problem disappeared. Beats anything I can think of.

#4. This problem has been going on for several years Even before the new Windows 10 64 bit Version 1909. It may have started after I switched from Windows 7 to Windows 10. The current audio driver is from Windows Version 10.0.18362.1

Audio Problems

May I suggest to completely uninstall all Audio drivers listed in the Device manager including the headset. Please make sure to completely remove.

Here is how to do it.

Here the steps to completely remove a Device off your computer.

Step 1. Use shortcut keys Win + X on Windows 10.

Step 2. Select Device Manager.

Step 3. Expand the entry Sound and Audio devices. Right-click the problematic device and select Uninstall device.

Step 4. You may need to check the option Delete the driver software for this device, and then click the Uninstall button.

Step 5. Reboot the computer.

Repeat the steps in all the Audio devices listed.

Then reboot. then test the headset again.

Step 1.

I would suggest you to run sound audio troubleshooter, it will automatically detect the problem and fix it. Follow the below steps.

  Press Windows key + R and click on
  Control Panel.
  
• 
  Click on View by: category and click on
  Small icon.
  
• 
  Now click on troubleshooting and click on
  Hardware and Sound.
  
• 
  Click on Playing Audio and Click on
  Next button.
  
• 
  Click on Advanced on the Audio troubleshooter dialog box and click on Run as administrator (Enter the credentials if required).
  
• 
  Click on Next and follow onscreen instruction complete the Audio troubleshooter.
  

If the issue still persist, try the below steps.

Step 2.

I suggest you to set the headset as default and check.

  Right click on the on the sound icon on the Windows taskbar.

  Click on Sounds and click on Playback
  tab.
  
• 
  Click on the headset and set it as default by clicking on the
  Set default button.
  
• 
  Now click Apply and OK.
