Windows 10: D: drive completely gone, nothing works to bring it back

Hello, I am running Windows 10 Home, Version 10.0.19044 Build 19044 on a HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-dk0xxx. I can supply further system information if necessary. I noticed that while trying to install a game from Steam, Steam was repeatedly displaying a disk write error - this was the first time I've noticed this problem. I restarted my computer, and when it had booted up again, the D: drive was gone from my file explorer. My D: drive is a 1TB HDD as opposed to my 256GB SSD built into the laptop - so, not a recovery drive, and not connected through USB. And all of a sudden it's not mou

• Click on the File Explorer.
• Select This PC.

  Is the D: drive located on the same hard disk or on different hard disk?

  Did you have any important data saved on the
  D: drive?
  

If the D: is saved on another hard disk and you are unable to access it, I suggest you to format the drive completely and check if the issue is resolved.



To format the hard disk, follow the steps below:

• 
  Press Windows logo + X keys on the keyboard and select
  Disk management option.
  
• 
  Right click on the D: drive and select
  Format option.
  
• 
  Wait for the formatting to complete and check if the changes are effective.

My d drive is completely gone

I left my computer off for about a week. Whenever i got back, my D drive, which is built into my computer, was no longer accessible. I have gone into settings and it is not there. Even when i go into disk management, the drive still doesn't show up. I
don't know what is wrong.
