"D:\WindowsApps\Deleted" empty folder and lost apps installed on the D: drive

    Expected:

    Getting back ms store apps

    Happening:

Under "D:\WindowsApps\" there's an empty "deleted" folder

    Steps to reproduce it:

    Have Windows 10 1803

Have in storage settings the "store apps in" set to the D: drive

Have a ms store app installed on the D: drive(In my case Rise Of The Tomb Raider)

    Upgrade to Windows 10 1809

It should miss the app in the start menu

In ms store-> download the app

Downloads a few KB and shows the app again in the start menu, and you can use it normally

Refresh windows but without removing personal file(because I had troubles with internet access that I wasn't able to fix)

    Wait it to reinstall windows

Look with administrator cmd dir command inside "D:\WindowsApps\" and you should see "appname_xyz" folder with inside all its data.

Change again the storage option to the D: drive (It was resetted by the refresh)

Reinstall the app from ms store to show it in start

You should now see that it will start downloading the app again (33 GB)

    Stop the download

Check again with administrator cmd with dir inside "D:\WindowsApps\" and you should see a "deleted" folder of 0 bytes and the "appname_xyz" missing

    Question

Is there a way to get back the "appname_xyz" folder with its data or it's too late? Also in case I should reinstall the app, which is paid and has a max of 10 pcs to be installed on, does it count as a new pc?

    :)

C windows installer folder - Delete?

He can do symbolic link redirection and move the files in it to a different location. *Wink "D:\WindowsApps\Deleted" empty folder and lost apps installed on the D: drive ;)
Better try it out in a virtual of first. Just a suggestion.

    Like:
First move everything in c:\windows\installer to d:\installercache
    Then delete c:\windows\installer folder
Then type this in command mode as admin
    mklink /d c:\windows\installer d:\installercache

Removing those installer files is a bad idea. it might prevent you from updating or uninstalling apps.

WindowsApps on D:\ Drive - Access Denied

Finally in version 10565 you are able to move/install Apps to other location than C:\Program Files\WindowsApps
To change permissions for C:\Program Files\WindowsApps to be able to see what was inside the folder was easy however to do the same on D:\WindowsApps seems to be impossible.
Tried to change permission / ownership but still no luck.
Have hooked up the HDD to another PC and deleted the folder.
After restarting Windows 10 the folder is gone, however when I try to make a new folder WindowsApps I am told that it can not be created as it already exists!!!???. But how?

    Any comment appreciated

    Remove Extra WindowsApps Folder

I have two hard drives (C: and D"D:\WindowsApps\Deleted" empty folder and lost apps installed on the D: drive :). Windows 10 is installed on C:, but I keep everything else in D:.

I saw in the Storage settings area that I could change where apps would save to, and I changed it from C: to D: to see what would happen. It created a WindowsApps folder in D:, which I didn't like, so I immediately switched it back to storing apps in C:.
However, the WindowsApps folder still exists in D:, and I cannot remove it. The original WindowsApps folder still exists (hidden) in C:\Program Files.

I've tried changing the permissions, but regardless of whom I grant access to it still refuses the deletion. I even was going to give up and just switch it to hidden, but I don't have permission for that either.

How do I delete this superfluous WindowsApps folder?
