Windows 10: DAM_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT 1eb, when waking up the laptop after a night

The laptop was in sleep mode for a night and the power was plug-in. In the morning, I unplugged the power first. Then I pushed the power button to wake up the laptop. It didn't wake up and restarted the system. The memory dump from "C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP" showed a crash related to DAM.sys and WmiPrvSE.exe. The detailed dump info is in the following. Laptop wakes up from sleep on its own

Hi Monica,

It happened again last night. The laptop was plugged in and with the lid closed. It turned on on its own in the middle of the night and woke me up as well because the fans were quite loud. I opened the lid, but it didn't 'wake up'. I had to hold the power button
for a few seconds to switch it off.

This happened after I followed the steps in your first answer. Any other suggestions?

Windows 11 DAM_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT blue screen when waking the device

My new Alienware computer has been getting a blue screen when it wakes from sleep. The error is DAM_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT and it says that dam.sys failed. I’ve already checked drivers and installed any updates, run memory diagnostics, sfc, run all of the Dell support scans, ePSA tests, etc. I did notice that in the Alienware Command Center, my RAM occasionally dips to 4400 Mhz (even though it is 4800).

Dell support wants to just do a system restore, but I don't think that is going to fix it. Any ideas? I have a complete memory dump file, but it's about 33 GB.

 

Laptop wakes up during the night.

Have a look at Task Scheduler and see if there are items scheduled to run in the middle of the night.

Open Command Prompt (Admin)

Type or copy/paste

powercfg -waketimers > Press Enter

It should tell you what is scheduled to wake your computer up.

Use this as soon as you get up and see that it is on.

powercfg - lastwake

Might tell you what woke it up during the night.
