dark magic gave me more resolutions than what can be supported by my monitor , how did this...

my monitor was originally 1360x768 so it had a different aspect ratio for games as a default . after something happened i got access to different higher aspect ratios , so i got a proper 1920x1080p aspect ratio for games , iwas shocked how i got this so i went to display settings and saw this , i set it to 1920x1080p and my monitor told mode not supported understandably after i removed the vga and plugged it back in , it went to normal resolution cap . final question , how do i get these resolution access back ?

    :)

  2. Second monitor screen resolution problem

    Hi,

For us to properly isolate the issue with your second monitor screen resolution, we would like to know the following:

    • Were there any changes made on your computer prior to the issue (e.g., updates, software installation)?

    • When did the issue first begin?

    • To make sure that we have not missed on anything, what troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

In the meantime, we suggest that you try resetting your monitor settings, and check if the issue still persists. You may refer to your monitor on how to reset it.

We look forward to your response.

    Monitor Supported Resolutions

I am looking at getting a new external monitor (probably 2k) which I will use with several computers. One of these computers is an old Lenovo Thinkpad W510 which has a 1366x768 display using a NVIDIA Quadro FX 880M video card. Supposedly that card can support up to a 2k display, but I have not been able to get anything higher than its default resolution on my current monitor (which has a max of 1920x1200) using a Displayport connection . I don't really care if I cannot get a higher resolution than the default for that old computer, but I want a monitor that will at least support its default. Currently I was looking at two possible monitors: Viewsonic VP2768 or HP Z27n. Both are very similar but the HP monitor has a preset for 1366x768 while the Viewsonic does not.

Does this mean that the Viewsonic would not support the Thinkpad default resolution or is there a reliable custom resolution that could be set up?

    Thanks,
    JohnD

    Monitor Resolution

Thanks. I gave it a few days to see if it worked. It didn't.

My monitor is listed as "Generic PnP Monitor" (it's an old Vizio with no drivers available from that company) and I am told that I have the latest driver. I uninstalled are re-installed, etc., but it didn't change matters. It selects the correct monitor
when I restart and that seems to hold most of the day even when it takes a nap and I have to sign-on again. But overnight it changes the resolution and I cannot get it back. When I try to change the resolution manually to what it is when it is right "1360
X 768 (Recommended)" it is not the same and none of the available resolution-options work.
