Windows 10: Data disk where documents, downloads, images etc. folders was formatted. Now I get...

Hello,I had to format the data disk not C:, because an error with the installation of an old game from Steam somehow messed it up. Now my system still believes that the documents, downloads, images, videos and music folders are found in the old data disk E:, which they are not. When I try to access them, I get the first error. When I click on properties and try to move them, I get the second error. I would like to correct this. I appreciate any help.Thank you in advance!

Downloads folder is the Documents folder

I suggest you to Restore to Default the folders and document settings and see if it helps.

Step 1:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Download folder.
• Right click on the Download Folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

Step 2:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Documents folder.
• Right click on the Document folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

After performing above steps change the settings as you required and check if it helps.

Run CMD


1. diskpart
2. list disk

Then in the 3º step, put the correct number of disk in the list for the usb flash (if it's listed in disk 3, then you'll have to write select disk 3).

2. select disk #
3. clean
4. create partition primary
5. select partition 1
6. active
7. format fs=fat32
8. assign
9. exit

with that commands you will format the flash drive in fat32, if you have a large drive you can select also "format fs=ntfs" in step 7.
