  1. Data Loss- The folders in quick access is no longer available...!!!

I had to install an official exe by using a secondary admin account. Before that installation, the registry entry of the previous version of that software was removed as per the guideline. There is no any issue with the legality of the software. However, once it is installed I noticed that the folders stated under the “Quick Access” is no longer accessible and unfortunately, I can not locate them in the real folder manually too. It says the folder is no longer available. We are not supposed to have different drivers than C , hence all are in C drive. The folders in quick access were nothing to d

  2. Quick Access - "Location is not available"

I solved the problem without following steps 1, 2, and 3. The solution is stupidly simple and it doesn't make any difference as to whether the problem item in the Quick Access list is pinned or unpinned.

    1. Create the folder in the same path where Quick Access reported it to be unlocatable. The folder will be empty.

    2. Delete the folder you just created. The Quick Access item that WAS listed in Quick Access disappears!!

Note that #2 does not remove or delete the item from Quick Access. It deletes the empty folder you just created *from the machine* (i.e., it goes to the Recycle bin) and as a consequence of the deletion, it disappears from the Quick Access list.

  3. Quick Access bar

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

We would be glad to help you with the issue you are facing today. I understand the difficulty.

    Remove items from Quick access.

I would suggest you to follow the below steps.

    • Right click on the file or folder.
    • Select the option “unpin from the quick access”

To pin items to an item already on the quick access bar.

    Follow the below steps.

I would suggest you to create folder in the desktop screen & place all the files or folder which need to pin to the quick access.

    • Open the quick access.
    • Select the Desktop option.
    • Right click on the folder & select the option “pin to quick access”

Hope this helps in resolving the issue. If the issue persists, do get back to us. We will be happy to assist you.

Quick Access - "Location is not available"

    Hi Adagio,

Thank you for using Windows 10.

I would like to inform you that if some of the folders are pinned to quick access, then you may have to unpin to remove it by
Right click on the folder>unpin from quick access.

If it is not pinned, then ideally removing through Right click
on the folder>Remove from quick access should work.

I would suggest you to download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner.

Microsoft Safety Scanner which is a free Scanner downloadable security tool that provides on-demand scanning and helps remove viruses, spyware, and other malicious software. It works with your existing antivirus software. Refer to the link below:

Microsoft Safety Scanner Download - Windows security

Disclaimer: Data or files which are infected by malware might be beyond cleaning and have to be deleted entirely to maintain the integrity of your system, which means there might be a potential for data loss.

    • Press Windows+X.

    • Click on Command Prompt (Admin).

    • Type the command Chkdsk /f/r.

    • Hit Enter.
Chkdsk disclaimer: While performing chkdsk on the hard drive if any bad sectors are found on the hard drive, while the bad sectors might be recovered however there might be pertinent data loss.
