Windows 10: Data Supplied of Wrong type

I've been researching for weeks regarding this problem. I have a Samsung Galaxy S8+ and have tried with various USB2.0 and 3.0 and firewire cables to copy documents and photos from both internal and external storage to Windows 10 laptops.


Every other version of Windows worked fine however Windows 10 will not allow me to copy things over. I have turned off USB debugging and this continues to be a problem and I can't copy folders or even a single .mp3, .jpeg or .mp4 file individually due to the crappy windows operating system.


Guess what? I can copy my Samsung files to Mac iOS?!


Windows sort this out it drives us mental and reply for once!

Data Supplied of Wrong type

Seeing that there are a few hundred million Win10 installations out there, chances are that the problem does not lie with the "crappy operating system" but with your PC, maybe the hardware. I suggest you do this:

1. Copy a sample .mp3 file to your PC.
2. Upload this file from your PC to some cloud storage.
3. Upload the same file from a Mac to the same cloud storage, under a different name.
4. Post the URLs here.

I will then examine the files to see what's wrong.

 

Transferring from DSLR to Windows, "Data supplied is of wrong type."

I am trying to copy files from my Nikon D3100's memory card to my PC's (Windows 10 TP) hard drive but I get, "Data supplied is of wrong type."





Any ideas?

 

Edge Search Does Not Permit Change of Region


I got these suggestions from the Microsoft Community forum.No. 1 worked for me:

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community. I am glad to assist you on this.
We have reproduce the issue here and we are able to access non-regional search for google using Microsoft Edge.
I would suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.
Step 1:
Clear browsing data option of Microsoft Edge and check if you face the issue. To do so perform the steps below.

1. Click on the More actions icon next to the feedback icon present on top right corner of the Project Spartan homepage.
2. Select Settings and click on Choose what to clear.
3. Check the boxes Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files and click on Clear.

Step 2:
I suggest you to create a new user account and check if the issue occurs.

1. Go to Settings.
2. Choose Accounts and then select Family and other users.
3. Select add someone else on this PC.
4. Enter a user name and hit next.
5. Click on Finish.
6. Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.

Step 3:
It could also happen because of network issue. I suggest you to try with different network connection and check if it helps.
