Windows 10: Data Usage - over 490 gigs of used by "system" in last 30 days

Hello all! I am trying to understand why my new laptop with Windows 11 installed on it would utilize 490 gigs of data. I recently received a data overage bill from my internet provider....any suggestions on why this may happen and what I could do to prevent it from happening again?

Data Usage

The highest usage is a torrent client for 30 GB, the browser for 17 and the system for 1 GB in the last 30 days. The rest are under a gig.

No one can get to the internet from my computer. Wifi is password protected and I checked with my provider and they told me the devices they see attached and they are mine. However, they cannot tell me which device used what data.

Bitddefender is newish and there is some correlation between its install and my data usage. However, I don't see a data backup option in the program and the network tool only shows 45 MB of usage for it in the last 30 days. Does anyone know if there is a possibility it is the Bitdefender somehow?

Also, as you suggested if anyone has further tools, that would be helpful as well. Thanks.

 

DATA USAGE BEYOND 30 DAYS

My WiFi Modem as of yesterday recorded about 12GB. Obviously it came with no instructions indicating that any usage is recorded anywhere but on NY day it recorded about 12MB which leaves me relying on Win. 10 data usage but it only records 30 days usage
with no apparent option to modify it. Usage Apps. from the store also seem to be restricted to 30 days. Is there some way to just record usage from a given point?

 

System data usage

Nope. It says 30 days but I had reset the usage to zero 3 days prior to the date showing 8.77 GB. That was only 3 days of usage. Before I had reset it to zero, it showed 107GB over 30 days.

Today, it shows 19.69GB. That's another 3 days. So system is using too much.
