Windows 10: "Date created" in photo properties not correct

Discus and support "Date created" in photo properties not correct in Windows 10 Software and Apps to solve the problem; I'm sorting and organizing photos, many of them by the date they were taken.     "Date created" in photo properties not correct


    I'm sorting and organizing photos, many of them by the date they were taken. The majority don't have dates in the name. I thought I'd be smart and right click to look at the Properties for the date created but the created date is showing the date I transferred the pics to the computer I'm using right now. The modified date is sometimes a - an unknown date that doesn't make sense, b - a date very near the correct creation date, or c - a date prior to what the real creation date is 1-3 months preceding an event that I know took place on a certain date but the Properties shows a random date t

    Photo App does not display the correct date taken.

    I went through a folder of pictures and changed the properties on each photo to have the correct taken by date. I even changed the dated created on a few, but the photo app completely ignores these changes.

    I also tried changing the photo taken date via the photo app. but, the date is still not correctly displaying. For example, the date taken is November 2nd,1995. but when sorted by date taken the photo app says February 4th, 2023. When sorted by date modified, the photo app shows today's date, which would be correct.

    I also tried removing the folder from the photo app and adding it back after making changes to the photo properties, but this did not seem to make any difference. Photos are .jpg type.

    Any Idea's on how I can get the photo app to update to the correct date?

    Photos not sorting by the correct date

    I recently plugged my phone into my computer to sort my photos from my camera roll into separate folders. Most of the time I haven't had any problems, but I ran into one today.

    A large portion of the photos I moved today show up under "older photos" instead of the correct date.

    I checked all the files and the photo properties do show the correct date.

    So why are my photos not sorting correctly and how can I fix it?

    According to your description, I have repeatedly tested on Windows 10, and tried to change the creation date by right-clicking on the properties and viewing the details. Unfortunately, there is currently no way in Windows 10 to change the photo creation date.



    However, this idea of yours seems like a good suggestion, maybe you can send feedback on this issue, here are the steps:

    • Win + F -> describe your idea and send feedback
