Date is wrong on my Windows 11 PC on Auto setting, time is correct

The Date is wrong on my Windows 11 PC on Auto setting, time is correctI tried changing the date in Date and Time Settings but when I set it to Auto, the date goes back by one day. The Time is correct. Syncing also loses a day. I only noticed this today when I was adding an event to my calendar. It was OK on Friday.

    :)

    Time & date always wrong

Since upgrading to Windows 11 a few months ago, the time and date on my system are always wrong on boot. I have to go into date & time settings and click "Sync Now" to fix it.

I've tried multiple debugging steps but nothing has worked:

    1. Replaced the CMOS battery. I also dualboot linux on my PC and the time is correct there. My BIOS settings are saved. So I believe the battery is fine.
    2. Set "Windows Time Service" in services.msc to start automatically. Stopped and restarted it.
    3. Run SFC and DISM checks. Both OK.
    4. Ran windows update. Everything is up to date.
    5. Re registered w32time:

Everything seems to be fine once i manually sync time. So why isn't it syncing on boot? Where is it getting the wrong time from if the BIOS time is correct?

Time correct but date often wrong

Just one more check, takes a few seconds of your time.

As the time zone, computer location and time & date settings can all be set independently, it's worts to check the default formats. Simply press WIN + R to open the Run dialog, type control intl.cpl and hit Enter to open the region module of Control Panel and check that both Short date and Long date formats match your preferred way to present the date:

If not, click Additional settings button and change them as you wish:

In Customize Format dialog you can either select a pre-defined format or edit them manually using following abbreviations:

    • d = day of the month without leading zero
    • dd = day of the month without leading zero
    • dddd = day of the week
    • MMM = three letter abbreviation for month (APR, AUG, DEC and so on)
    • MMMM = full name of the month
    • yy = year with two last digits
    • yyyy = year with four digits
    • You can also add separators as you wish (hyphen, slash, comma, period, colon and so on)

    date and time are wrong

First correct them by clicking on the time/date in the bottom right corner of your screen. Then click on the Internet Time tab, then click on change settings. Now click Update now.

That should correct it. You must first correct it to nearly right before the auto update.

Now, why is this happening? Please let me know if this repeats after a complete shut down, then restart. It could be your coin cell battery is wearing out.

    1. Do you have a laptop or desktop PC?
    2. How old is it?
    3. What is the make/model of your PC?
