Windows 10: DCOM errors = no windows apps working + user data gone

Something of a cross-post from reddit, because I'm desperate for a solution to these problems as they affect very major things for me and Nothing has worked thus farpreface: i'm running windows 10 home, ver 21h2, os build 19044.1348.uhhhh so i've been struggling with this for maybe two weeks now, and i am at my wits' end trying to fix things.initially, there were some minor problems i was experiencing which i cant even recall anymore, and i thought maybe it was due to this program that wouldn't let me delete its unneeded files from my c:\ drive. determined to delete any unwanted files that i

Some Windows 10 apps not working with DCOM error


Hello, I have been having this problem for a while now. There are some apps not working on a W10 Pro install, specifically:

Microsoft Finance app

Microsoft Weather app

Facebook Messenger app

I get these errors in event viewer:

Finance app:

Error 10010: "AppexFinance Server did not register with DCOM within the required timeout"

Error 5973: "Activation of app AppID failed with error: app not started"

Weather app:

Error 10010: "App Server did not register with DCOM within the required timeout"

Error 5973: "Activation of app AppID failed with error: app not started"

Messenger app:

Error 10010: "App Server did not register with DCOM within the required timeout"

Error 5973: "Activation of app AppID failed with error: app not started"

This doesn't happen with any new app I install, just with Facebook Messenger for now and the two Microsoft apps.

Is there a way to fix this without creating a new user account? I really need to keep this account.

PS: I have already tried sfc /scannow, which as usual amounted to nothing.

Windows 10 User Error

First, make a clone or backup of all his disks.
Second, run a disk check for errors.
Then, start playing with moving his user profile to a new one or trying to repair it.
And, you may want to look at some of the tutorials on the web for doing an in place upgrade without losing data, apps, or programs for his version of OS.
