Is it worth to change my current 32GB DDR3 1600 MHz (OC 1822 MHz @ 1,60v) for a new 32GB 2400 MHz kit for US$ 400,00 ? I still can sell the old kit or keep it to build a new rig in a near future. Do you think that the performance improvement in gaming will be significant ?

  2. Upgrading from 4 GB to 8 GB RAM and new Graphic Card

Thanks for your reply my motherboard is

    Asus P8 Z77 V LX, it's said it's su[[ort DDR3 2400(O.C.)/2200(O.C.)/2133(O.C.)/2000(O.C.)/1866(O.C.)/1800(O.C.)/1600/1333 MHz Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory

And Hyper DIMM support is subject to the physical characteristics of individual CPUs

Can I installed higher than PC 1600 RAM ? since 1800 or higher marked as (O.C) ?

    My CPU is i7-3770 K 3,4 Ghz

So I think I'll keep my current RAM. I'm really happy with my system performance. I was just wondering if I could get more from it with faster RAM... but as far as I could see in this video I can make better use of my money, maybe getting another SSD !

If you OC a lot it may be worth it. Also timings on faster memory can be improved when you use RAM at lower speed. That may help more than frequency itself.

I don't think it's a worthwhile upgrade. Some benchmarks might be a little better, but you wont get the improvement in games you are looking for

The only reason to do this would be if you don't want to overclock (push the components). You will get a small bit of performance from the upgrade, but for $400? Even if you sold your old set, you'd maybe get $100 out of it used. so that 's $300 for minimal performance boosts.

To some gamers, any tiny percentage is worth it.. but I have never understood that....

If you wait a while, the prices of newer motherboards, processors and DDR4 will come down. I think it's too late in the lifecycle of DDR3 to spend a lot on it.

I decided to keep my current DDR3 1600 (@ 1822 MHz OC). I don't intend to build a new system soon, and the one in my sig is still an excellent performer. You're right about the lifecycle of DDR3, and as far as I could research the gain with DDR3 2400 is not worth in my case. I do play a lot of games, but I'm not a performance paranoid.

Thanks for all the inputs !
