Windows 10: Deactivated Windows, Firewall can't be accessed, etc. Multiple problems

Hi all, this is my first time posting here so please bear with me. I will be very specific with what happened and how I discovered these problems one by one.I am unable to attach photos so I'll add an imgur link for you to see the error messages.Images Link: https://imgur.com/a/NkcpjecJuly 8, 2024 - My laptop froze and restarted on its own. Upon restarting, I noticed the 'Activate Windows' Image 1 overlay is showing and when I went to settings it says that my Windows is 'Not Active' Image 2I tried looking for solutions online. Firewall activation and deactivation Windows 10

1. When trying to deactivate the Windows firewall it automatically activates after about three seconds!

2. When starting Chrome, Skype and Dropbox I get a security warning from the firewall that it has stopped certain functions and that I shall approve the applications to get through. When trying to add the applications to the list of approved applications
the firewall doesn´t save the new setting. I´ve tried to reinstall the applications , no change the warnings are still there!

 

W10 can connect to wider internet but cannot access web pages

I have an odd issue with my W10 laptop linked to Sky broadband in the UK via wifi using a Sky router. The effect is that while I can actually access the internet (I can send and receive emails using Outlook and can connect to other machines using TeamViewer) I cannot access any web site (Google, BBC etc). There is no specific error message, merely that the access request timed out and a suggestion that it may be to do with proxy. I have tried the following:

1. Other systems (W10 and ios) can access web sites using the same Sky router (therefore probably not a router problem)
2. I have sent and received emails using Outlook, so the broadband connection is working (probably not a Sky problem)
3. I have tried two different browsers (Firefox and Edge), no connection (not a browser problem)
4. I am using Windows Defender and have:
   1. Made sure that Firefox is in the list of allowed systems in its Firewall, no connection after a reboot
   2. Turned off the Firewall and tried again - no connection

My next step will be to re-install Windows, but has anyone got any other suggestions? Could it be some sort of virus (I have carried out a complete virus check using Defender) So - any suggestions?

To address this concern, we suggest that you follow these steps on how to block apps and programs from accessing network connection through Windows Firewall:

• Open Control Panel and click System and Security.
• On the Windows Firewall page, select Allow a program through Windows Firewall.
• Uncheck the box to the left of the application names to disallow them from accessing network connection.
• If other programs are not listed, just click Allow another program/app button to add them.
