    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

  3. NDIS version for Windows 10

    Hi,

I have a NDIS 6.2 based driver and i am porting it to various flavors of Windows such as Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.

I find that there is significant info for porting NDIS 6.x drivers for Windows 8 (NDIS 6.3) and Windows 8.1 (NDIS 6.4), however, i am unable to find appropriate NDIS info for Windows 10 as the NDIS version is not very clearly mentioned for Windows 10.

I find that wikipedia has a mention of
NDIS 10 for Windows 10 as in below link :

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_Driver_Interface_Specification
. However, i am unable to find a mention of it in the MSDN.

I continued my search and landed up in a
stackoverflow discussion where NDIS 10 is ruled out, but
NDIS 6.5 is mentioned as in below link : http://stackoverflow.com/questions/34328090/advantages-of-ndis-10-over-ndis6
    .

However, i find that the main NDIS migration link in
MSDN does not even talk about 6.5 : Porting NDIS 6.x Drivers to NDIS 6.40 - Windows drivers or

    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/hh440157(v=vs.85).aspx
. Do we have a version of NDIS that is 6.5 for Windows 10 ?

On continuing my search in MSDN , I got a table that depicts the NDIS version for particular Windows type. However, that table too did not mention the NDIS version for Windows 10 !! Kindly refer
    to the link
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff567893(d=printer,v=vs.85).aspx
    for the same.

So, can you kindly clarify me on which version of NDIS is appropriate for Windows 10 and
what are the NDIS porting steps to be followed. Also, can anybody point me to an appropriate link for the same.

    Thanks in advance,

    Dead-end Problem Windows 10 NDIS

    Choose NDIS version dynamically

I'm developing a driver that uses NDIS and should work in Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10. Hence, I'd like to choose the NDIS version dynamically. When I use the function NdisGetVersion(),
isn't returning the expected values. Kindly suggest a method to dynamically choose the NDIS version based on the NDIS version available in the target machine.
