Dealing with a bug that disallows me to remove my daughter's child account restriction.

I recently found out about the family safety feature, and immediatley wanted to remove it and disable it in its entirety. I tried removing my daughter "child" account via the steps mentioned in this community post https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/account-billing/leave-family-group-or-remove-members-6d806bbb-eb38-a978-10f4-3bbb814ffcc4?preview=true.But even though i followed the steps fully I got an error saying :"You can't remove Yali from the family groupFamily members under statutory age need an adult's consent to join a family group. 2. Child account

    Hi,

My daughter has a child account, and I added it to family. Now it happened two times (over the last 3 months) that I got a notification from Microsoft saying that on so and so date my daughter was removed from my family. I checked, and indeed, my daughter was not listed anymore. I asked her whether she'd removed herself (if that is possible for a child of 10 years of age). She said "no", wouldn't even know how to do it. Question then is, is it a glitch??

    Any suggestions?

  3. Can't remove child account

Back when I first setup my 'family' with my kids accounts I accidentally put in my daughter's email address incorrectly. However, this account still showed up in my family list, just with the wrong email. Now when I try to remove the account it says I
need to, "Select Manage my child's info, find your child, then select Remove consent for this child's account. Then, try removing this member again." However, after going to the 'Manage my child's account' page this particular account with the wrong email
address isn't listed.. So how can I remove consent for an account that technically probably doesn't exist?

Converting child account to adult account

My daughter turned 18 a few weeks ago. Her account had been.a child account. After turning 18, all the content filtering and child restrictions still applied to her account.

We tried various suggestions from community discussions to try to fix this problem. None of them worked. What finally worked, though, is to change her birth year to 1999. So it looks like there is a bug in the Family Safety feature when deciding if a child is now an adult or not. It doesn't seem to take into account the day-month-year of the birthday.

Sharing this tip with the community as a workaround. It looks like a bug that can be easily fixed by the Microsoft Family Safety team.
