1. Death by BSOD - Windows 10 Pro

Sometime after I upgraded from Win7 Pro to Win10 Pro, I started getting random BSODs. They've gotten progressively worse and worse to the point where it's now happening every hour or two.

Here is what I've done so far:
- I followed your excellent WinDBG tutorial and found an Avast driver listed, so I completely uninstalled Avast and am now using Windows Defender. Now I no longer see any drivers explicitly listed in WinDBG (at least that are obvious) and the BSODs seem to have gotten even more frequent.
- Usually my BSODs are the "Kernel Security Check Failure" that sits on 100% and never reboots, but now it seems to be rebooting on its own.
- I ran a full MemTest86 from a bootable USB drive with 100% success, no errors at all.
- I've run DriverBooster3 and should have all the latest drivers.
- I've updated Windows 10 Pro on an almost daily basis.
- I've run hard disk checks, defrag, etc.

Thank you so much for any help, I've honestly never had so many BSODs since Windows ME.... so frustrating!

:)

3. Windows Installation

Hi all, I need help. I recently build a pc and got it to work (BIOS can be loaded and everything seems fine) but during installation of windows 10 pro from a USB drive, I got a BSOD (blue screen of
death ) with the error code 0xc000021a. Any suggestions? The BSOD will appear after the part where the pc will restart to finish up the windows installation

The latest dump (6/16) indicates a problem with rtwlane_13.sys. This belongs to Realtek PCIE Wireless LAN PCI-E NIC. The currently installed version is dated Fri Jul 10 07:54:32 2015.

I don't know which Realtek you have so I can't look for a newer driver, but that is what you need to do. Need the model number, like
Realtek 8723BE . Provide that and I can help look for a newer driver.

5. I actually have that card disabled, but here is the info:

Realtek RTL8191SE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC

Driver Provider: Microsoft
Driver Date: 3/27/2013
Driver Version: 2021.2.327.2013
Digital Signer: Microsoft Windows

I'm using the following card because it performed better: ASUS PCE-N15 11n Wireless LAN PCI-E Card

I couldn't find any updated drivers for the Realtek card, so I just pulled it completely out of the box.

We'll see if that helps. Thanks.

Nothing of much use on the new dump. Let's give Driver Verifier a try, see if it shakes out any driver problems:

Driver Verifier is a diagnostic tool built into Windows 10, it is designed to verify both native Microsoft drivers and third party drivers. Driver Verifier's verification process involves putting heavy stress on drivers with the intention of making bad, outdated, incompatible or misbehaving drivers fail. The required result is a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) which will generate a crash dump for debugging purposes.
Machines exposed to Driver Verifier will run very sluggishly due to the stress being applied to the drivers.

Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable in Windows 10

Warning:
It is not advised to run Driver Verifier for more than 48 hours at a time. Disable Driver Verifier after 48 hours or after receiving a BSOD, whichever happens soonest.

Always create a Restore Point prior to enabling Driver Verifier.

What we're looking for is a BSOD with a mini dump that will tell us what driver caused it.

Ok thanks for the help. I ran Verifier and it crashed within 20 minutes, here is the latest zip file. I disabled Verifier after the BSOD.

Also, to correct my earlier post.... I didn't realize the Realtek driver was for the ASUS PCE-N15 11n Wireless LAN PCI-E Card. I uninstalled the driver and reinstalled the latest from the Asus website, but that didn't help the BSOD issue. Thanks.

The latest dump points at your Nvidia driver:

Code: BugCheck 1000007E, {ffffffffc0000005, fffff80138c038e4, ffffd0007b28b2a8, ffffd0007b28aac0} Probably caused by : nvlddmkm.sys ( nvlddmkm+4338e4 )
You have the 368.39 version which I believe is the latest available. I don't know what to tell you to fix this other than to try older drivers or use DDU to uninstall the Nvidia driver then install the 368.39 again and see what happens.

The next older one indicates rtwlane_13.sys, as before: Realtek RTL8191SE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC

Code: *** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for rtwlane_13.sys *** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for rtwlane_13.sys Probably caused by : rtwlane_13.sys ( rtwlane_13+2164dd )
Is this the ASUS driver you downloaded: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Driver & Tools - PCE-N15

10. I completely removed the PCIE wireless card that was using the rtwlane_13.sys driver, because it was crashing every 1-2 hours and making the computer unusable, so I put in the other wireless card and that seems to have helped tremendously.

The other thing I did was to disable the Intel (R) HD Graphics 3000 display adapter in device manager, which I believe is built-in to my motherboard. I have no idea if that was messing up my Nvidia card, but it's been 48 hours without a BSOD and I'm still running Verifier to see if I can get another dump.

So far so good, thank you for all the help.
