Default Communication Device does not appear to work for recording

Windows 10 Pro 64 bit, latest

    Audio Device 1: laptop build-in

Audio Device 2: Plantronics wireless headset, set as both default device and default communication device

    In Control Panel -> Sound

Playback appears to be working. The volume bars for wireless headset responds to audio, no the builtin speakder

Recording does not appear to work: wireless headset volume bar does not move but the bulit-in Microphone Array volume bar is moving.

I have the wireless headset on and walks away from the laptop. People on the call tell me I sounds far away which means the sounds comes through the laptop builtin microphone

    What's going on here?

    :)

Default communication device on Windows 10

    Hello all,

The installation of my wavecyclic audio driver on Win 10 makes it the default communication device. This behavior is observed only on win 10, but not on win 8 or 7. Nothing specific is being done on our installer/driver to set it as default communication device. Any suggestions on why this is happening and on how to not make our driver become default communication device? I appreciate your help.

Sennheiser GSP 350. Microphone stops working when I open any game

Wow, ok. I think I've fixed it by accident while fiddling around.

It appears to be the Realtek audio being the issue here. I don't use my onboard sound card as my headset is a USB headset only and my speakers are plugged into an ASUS sound card.

    Step by step fix:
    • I went into recording devices
    • I enabled STEREO MIX (Realtek High Definition Audio)
    • Then I set that Stereo Mix as the DEFAULT DEVICE (At this point it took over both input and output devices without my permission )
    • Then set my Sennheiser headset as default recording and playback devices in their respective windows even though they both still said they were the default devices when they weren't
Headset microphone is currently functioning while in game now. I'll update the thread if it goes again. Should I completely disable Realtek audio??? Or will windows just force it to work again?

  4. Default Communication Device does not appear to work for recording

Voice chat audio no longer comes through Default communication device (mic works fine)

    Hi Samuel,

A factor why you're voice chat sounds goes through your speakers as well is due to configuration settings. We suggest that you configure playback devices. Follow the steps below:

    • Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound >
      Sound
      .
    • Left-click on Speakers > Click on Set as Default Device.
    • Left-click on Headphones > Select Set as Default Communication Device.
    • Click OK.

If the issue still occurs, contact your device manufacturer's support for assistance on configuring your device.

Let us know what happens after following the suggested troubleshooting steps.
