Windows 10: Default Folder Context Action

When I right-click on any folder, the default action is currently CMD. It used to be OPEN and that is what I want to restore it to, so that when I double-click on the folder, the folder is opened. How do I do this? I have done a bit of a Google search, but most articles deal with adding new items to the context menu, not restoring the default item on the existing context menu. Thanks.

Change the default action for .reg files

As Shawn said, your first file will change the default action to Edit without otherwise modifying context menu entries.

It's one of the first things I change on my machine.

I don't have any context for your friend's actions. If you switch back to one of the default images under c:\windows\web\wallpaper , do those still work?

This has not worked. I even tried option 1 to reset all DefaultApp settings. Nothing has changed.

*** ADDED LATER ***

I found the fix by Googling with slightly different wording for the problem...

Right-click Start, click Command Prompt (Admin)
Type the following command:
reg add HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell /ve /d "none" /f
Press ENTER.

Thie above has fixed the problem and turned the context menu to normal!

Option 1 should have included that fix for the Directory entries so I am surprised it did not work - I'll look into that if I get time.
