Windows 10: default HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT values for .nfo?

Hello,


After having uninstalled a program which associated itself with .nfo files, the association remains and while I can use assoc .nfo=MSInfoFile to mend this, the values of HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.nfo\DefaultIcon and \Shell\Open\Command values are still pointing towards the uninstalled application.


I wish to put these values back to what they originally were, is this information available anywhere?

Unable to set default browser

• Press [Windows] + [R]
• Type "regedit"
• Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\http\shell\open\command
• Remove DelegateExecute
• Change (Default) value to: "C:\path\of\your\browser.exe" %1
• Do the same for HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\https\shell\open\command

That's a "dirty" way but it gets things done.

• Thank you Johan99. Your suggestion helped but I had to change it on my system.
• The Registrykey HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\hlpfile\shell\open\command does not exist on build 16199.
• However: Registrykey HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.hlp does so I changed the default value to "C:\users\temp\winhlp32.exe" %1
• Now my hlp file's open with no problems *Busted

Exe files can only be opened by "run as administrator"

Hi,

Corrupted registry settings, some third-party products, or viruses can change the default configuration for running .exe files. To rectify the issue with opening this particular file type, we suggest that you follow the steps
below:

• Right-click on the Start button, then choose Command Prompt (Admin) from the menu.
• Type regedit and press Enter.
  
• Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe.
  
• Double-click (Default) key, then set the Value data to
  exefile.
  
• Scroll down to go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\open\command key.
  
• Double-click (Default) key, then set the Value data to “%1” %*.
• Restart your computer.
