    Default mail gone awry

    Good day all...

I'm having some trouble getting the correct mail program to handle things I wish to send. We used to run with Lotus/IBM Notes, but have switched to Outlook. Our workstations are Windows 10. The default mail program selected is, of course, Outlook. We cannot uninstall Notes yet, as we have some applications that have been developed with it that we still need. All of our mail is handled by Outlook. When we try to send something, the system pulls up Notes and tries to use that program to send, instead of using Outlook. I have tried it with multiple programs, each with the same result:

    - Internet Explorer... File > Send > Page by e-mail

    - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC... Envelope icon > Attach to Email

    - Word and Excel... File > Share > Send a copy

If Notes is running, it would open a new email and attach the document. If it is not running, it would start the program and prompt to log in.

There is obviously some magic tweak somewhere that I am missing. Can someone point me in the right direction?!

    Thanks,

    :)

Mail "Unable to open ..." and duplicate Google Chrome in Default apps

Thanks for suggestion! But for now to change mail app is not an option tho I'll look into it later *Smile

    - - - Updated - - -

Want to post a quick update. Today I ran latest CCleaner and fixed all the issues it found with registry then restarted my pc. After restart problem with Mail "Unable to open ..." was gone and still gone after several restarts. All links being successfully opened with default correct Google Chrome. But duplicate Google Chrome still remains in default browser selection list in Default apps. That would be great to surgically remove it but until then I guess I can ignore it. I won't mark this issue as solved coz completely it's not.

Mail app will not open on 10041.

    Hello Adam,

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it. Default mail gone awry :)

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

    • Open powershell as administrator
    • Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
    • Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

Why did the startup window get cleared?

I didn't missed any step, the list was gone and gone , even after using lot of programs the programs were not listed in that list.
