Windows 10: Default printer issues

Sup peeps thx for checking my problem. I use windows 10, we have several network printers surrounding me that we use each for different function to help our office work efficiently. Windows 10 refuses to cooperate and help out. Here is the exact problem;
I print files from my computer to a networked colour printer onto pre-printed forms that become shipping labels, I print thousands and the files are continually open on my screen. If I have a file open on one of my monitors that I am printing and open my email and print something from there for example it will take the settings from the previous printed file and use them instead of the "default". I have the option for windows to control my printers off and it still chooses the current printer in use, problem is that if I am not paying attention I could (and have)gotten 100 copies of my email. How do I choose a network printer and in every situation have it "default" back to the "default printer and settings" for the next print job?
Regardless of settings windows uses the printer in use (or the last printer if I am printing different files on different printers)?

I want to be able to print a file, and regardless of how many or whether or not it is still printing I want windows to attempt to use my default printer unless I choose to make a change.

• Is it a wired or wireless printer?
• Is the printer connected via network to your computer?

I suggest you to make printer as a default printer you can follow the below steps:

• Press Windows key+ X and select
  device manager.
• Select devices and printers
• Right click on the printer you want to use, and then click
  set as default printer (You'll see a check mark on the printer's icon signifying that it's now your default printer).

I suggest you to update the drivers for the printers and check if it helps.

I also recommend you to run the print troubleshooter to check the issue.

Windows 10 - Cannot Set Printer Default

Hi Marc,

I suggest you to place the computer in Clean boot state and then try to make the default printer.

Perform clean boot to identify if any 3rd party service is causing this issue:

Note: After performing the troubleshooting steps in clean boot, follow
Step 3 from the link to start the computer to
Normal startup mode.

Note: Also applies to Windows 10.

To make printer as a default printer you can follow the below steps:

•
