Windows 10: Default Program Settings in Windows Security

I have noticed that, in my installation of Windows 11, I have not touched any of the settings in Windows Security, yet there are numerous programs that have system overrides enabled. My question is a general question. Which applications have system overrides turned on by default?I have been the victim several times over from a malicious user and neighbor of mine that has found me to be an easy target for MITM evil twin attacks and with not enough knowledge of how to protect against this I have been in a great deal of mental anguish for quite some time now. How to set default programs in Windows 10

How do I set Maple as a default programme when it does not appear in the list of programmes, even though its .exe file appears under Program Files in the directories Maple15 and Maple16.

Failing that how do I set a default programme for .mw files when this extension does not appear in the list, even thought it is a valid extension for Maple programmes.

  Did you try adding programs to the default list?

Two conditions must be met for a program to appear in the default list:

• 
  The program must have registered itself as being capable of handling at least one file type.

  At least one or the other program must have registered itself of being capable of handling at least one of those same file type(s).
  

Method 1: Follow the steps below to set the default programs and check if the issue is resolved.

  Press Windows logo key on the keyboard, type
  Default programs and select the top most search result.

  Click on Set your Default programs and select the programs listed in the left side panel of the window to set defaults.

Method 2: If the issue persists, follow the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.

Lost default photo viewer after profile rebuild

Thanks Brink. I've tried those steps before i started searching Google. After the profile rebuild i don't have the Photo app listed to choose to make it default in either the system settings for default apps or the Open With option.

I can't even find it doing a search. Seems to have been removed somehow with the profile rebuild, which doesn't make sense.

Might be helpful to list what i've done I've done the open with check, the choose default program in the system menu, tried that in device manager default programs also. I've checked the programs and features Turn windows features on/off and it's not listed there (never thought it was but that was a suggestion), searched the MS Store, it's not listed there either.

I don't like playing in the registry unless i have defined steps and haven't found anything for this yet, just the Win7 version like in my OP.
