Windows 10: Default Windows printer drivers reduce to A5 on Brother printer?!?

Just bought a new Surface Pro I have another that is 5 yrs old that prints no problem and attached my Brother MFC J4620DW printer to it. I note MS won't allow use of Brother print drivers and defaults to the MS IPP Class driver.However, all my A4 specified printing now comes back scaled down to A5?!? There is nothing I can do I tried downloading the actual Brother printer drivers instead of using MS generic driver - IPP. but errors trying to load. So, I am stuck?!?Do I send the Surface back and get something else?! This is clearly an issue with the MS default driver.... and why wont

HP 1512 printer A5 driver

I have an HP 1512 printer whose driver does not support printing A5. HP advised using the driver for either HP 5550 or HP 6940, and I was able to find them and used the 6940 driver while running Windows 7. After upgrading to 10, this extra driver disappeared, and neither printer appears in the Windows 10 "Add Printer" wizard, yet on my laptop Windows 7 wizard, they still appear. Does this mean Windows 10 does not support these printers?
HP customer services are unable to help this time, so any suggestions as to how to find an appropriate driver would be helpful. Alternatively, can I copy a driver from my Win 7 laptop? If so how?

Brother Printer exists & works, but won't "Install" - Why?

Check whether I understood you well.
First try: Add new printer, Windows finds printer and loads its own drivers/programme automatically. It wprks but not with the Brother drivers.
Second try: Brother package: failed
I suggest a third try: Add new printer; the printer that I wanted is not listed; continue and see of your model is listed. in the list of printers.
I had difficulties with setting up another Brother printer, and the third try solved it.

 

'Brother' Printer Driver needed

I suggest that you find a printer that is compatible with XP.

I gave you the Brother information to explain that it won't work with XP.

Brother supplies the Drivers for their products.
