Windows 10: defaultuser0 in 2020

Hi all,
Brand new ASUS TUF FX505GT. i5-9300H, GTX 1650, 512GB SSD.

Ran OOB fine. Updated NVIDIA, installed a few standard apps, Comodo IceDragon, Steam, Audacity, etc. Transferred some important data into the laptop.

Restarted and suddenly defaultuser0 is the only admin login. Dont know password.

Here is what i've tried.
1. Searched reddit for the same problem - several users have had this and they all advice the same thing. Special boot - Troubleshoot - Startup Options - Safe mode w/ cmd prompt - Add new admin account - voila : Not working. Its asking to login as defaultuser0.

   None of the other types of safemodes work (safe w/ networking and plain safe.)

   I tried reset my pc > keep my files ( I REALLY WANT MY DATA). Its asking me to login to defaultuser0.
   
   
3. 
   Searched online for other solutions. Everything telling me the same 3 steps above. I would like to avoid resetting and wiping all my data. But if i cant get this fixed by mid-day tomorrow, i will reset to hell.
   
   
4. 
   I dont have a recovery disk made yet. I thought i could make it over the weekend.
   

Q1: Can i make a recovery disk from another win10 pc and use it on this to get a cmd prompt?

Q2: i dont have a pen drive now. Can i use the card reader as a boot device (HAIL MARY) ? I have a 32gig card i use for a camera.

Get rid of Windows 10 defaultuser0

Hi,

I realize that it must be difficult for you when things are not working as it should. Sorry to know that you are facing this issue. I will try to help you with this issue.

I suggest you to follow these steps to remove the user account from your computer and check if that helps.

• 
  Press “Windows key + R” and type “netplwiz” press Enter.
  
• 
  Select the user account (defaultuser0), click the remove button.
  

Follow the on-screen directions to complete the process. Once this is done restart the pc for the changes to take place.

Hi,

I will be glad to help you with the issue you have with the user account.

Defaultuser0 is a system user profile used when Windows is setting up, before any user accounts have been created. It should and usually does disappear after first reboot after installation. If the profile folder remains in Users folder, it's safe to manually
delete it.

If you don't need the user account, you can delete it.

Delete the 'DefaultUser0' folder from C:\Users\

Delete the 'DefaultUser0' registry entry from:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\

Click on each of the listed profiles and check the 'ProfielImagePath' entry to verify the associated profile.

Delete the user with net user defaultuser0 /delete
