N8 and mms bug with Vodafone Italy

It's a joke that this issue has not been fixed yet. The least you expect from ANY phone that supports MMS is that it will send the message without issue. Let alone it being a £420 top-of-the-range smartphone, which is trying to be one of the company's "headline"
products. I have never owned a phone not made by Nokia, and I have defended it to the hilt. I really am a self-admitted Nokia Fan-Boi! But it's getting more and more difficult to defend them with their choice of OS, and now silly bugs like this. It should
have been a very high priority fix, and a firmware upgrade should have been issued long ago!!

  3. ive deleted windows defender in windows 10 how do i get it back

    Hi Michelle,

Thank you for your interest in Windows 10.

Group policy is usually set by companies on employee machines. Has your machine ever been a part of a company network before? Even as a bring-your-own-device sometimes companies have policy pushed down to these machines.

If this is a machine actively managed by a company you'll need to speak to your IT department, because even if you fix this issue it will likely reoccur every time you connect to the company’s network.

Assuming this is your personal machine, you'll need to use an admin account to fix your settings:

In your start box or a run command type: gpedit.msc and press enter. This should launch Local Group Policy Editor.

In Local Group Policy Editor go to Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Defender.

Here you should see an option that says "Turn off Windows Defender" that will likely say "Enabled" as State. Double click and reset this setting to "Disabled" in the upper left. Save your changes and then after a reboot you should no longer
have this issue (again unless you're part of a network that pushes these changes).

You may also try to launch Windows Defender from the below location:
    C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MSASCui.exe

Hope this information is helpful. Please do let us know if you need further assistance, we’ll be glad to assist you.

defender fix from there own company

I haven't looked at this since we last spoke back in October...
windows defender security center dosn't start correctly

There have been several updates to the Windows Defender Antimalware since then, so It's worth investigating to see what (if anything) has changed. I'm afraid to say the answer is 'very little'.

The Windows Defender Security Center still has problems opening when high contrast display modes are used. High Contrast #1 and #2 are the worst affected, High Contrast Black and High Contrast White seem to work.

It still seems to be the case that, as I said in post #13..

I just checked one of my IP/Insider Preview Version 1709 Build 17083 test machines and the High Contrast didn't seem to block anything on Windows Defender. I checked all 4 choices. The computer has an ATI Radeon HD 2400 video card, replaces the onboard adapter.

To reproduce the problem in Version 1709 build 16299.214 perform the following steps in this order:
    1) in Settings > Ease of Access > Colour & high contrast - choose the Theme 'High Contrast #1' and apply.
    2) Open Windows Defender Security Center from the icon on the taskbar.

Defender will open, but will have a blank display. Some of the icons, like 'Home' will appear if you hover the mouse where they should be, but clicking on any of them closes Defender.

For test purposes it is important NOT to have Defender open when you select 'High Contrast #1'. If it is open before selecting the theme it will continue to work normally, but once it has been closed it will not open properly again while either High Contrast #1 or #2 is selected.

For whatever it is worth, I recently started to have a similar problem with viewing the Windows Defender Security Center on my WIndows 10 PC, ver 1709, OS Build 16299.214. However, I was not using any High Contrast themes and I was recently having a problem viewing the Windows Defender Security Center. Very odd...

I was able to make the Windows Defender Security Center display correctly by simply rolling back my NVIDIA video graphic card driver. The most current NVIDIA video graphic card driver for my video card (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070) was released to the public on Jan 29, 2018. I think this latest graphics driver may have some bugs. I just rolled the graphics driver on my desktop back to the prior version of the graphics driver that was released by NVIDIA to the public around Jan 3, 2018 and that fixed everything for me.

You may want to fine tune your graphics card and see if that helps. As I mentioned above, just rolling back to an older (more reliable) graphics driver fixed my PC. It cannot hurt... *Wink
