Windows 10: Defender for Endpoint Antivirus Scan not available for Server 2016

I have onboarded a Windows 2016 server to Defender for Endpoint and I'm unable to Run Antivirus Scan. Windows Defender is enabled in the server. How to fix this?

Antivirus for Server x64 2008

I am running server 2008 with Symantec Endpoint 11. I need an antivirus that is not going to cost an arm and a lag ($500 per year) and that is compatible with x64 server editions.

Please don't recommend Linux, or "common sense".

AMD X630 @ 3.6Ghz
6Gb DDR2 @ 900Mhz
2900 Pro
2 500Gb HD's RAID 0
Server 2008 x64 Standard SP2

(The problem with endpoint is that it does not have pro-active scanning available for Server or x64 bit OS's.)

 

Server 2016 - Remove Windows Defender Completely

Trigger an update manually and/or enable auto-updates.

We use a third party app for AV and Malware and as such the Windows Defender feature is removed completely from both servers. This vulnerability continues to flag on every scan.

Is there anyway to delete the definition files that are being detected in these scans to prevent this from appearing on every scan that is done.

thanks for that.. i didn't notice the tutorial section :x

I did the suggested registry change and it's now listed on the desktop context menu.. but all this does is ask if I want to open it, update, or start a scan... I was hoping for the option where you right click a specific file and it will have listed 'scan with windows defender' like other antivirus programs have.. MSE had it. I'll keep looking around to see if I can find it in the meantime..
