Windows 10: Defender Network Inspection Service fails to start with enabled memory integrity protection

As you can read here and here user with 1909 and 2004 Windows build have problems with Defender Network Protection if memory integrity is enabled.

As Defender is a part of Windows this isn't acceptable. Same also that no error is displayed as Windows 2004 build display such in that specific Defender settings

Windows Defender Network Inspection Service fails to start

Nothing spectacular under 1151. However, there is a repeating event id 2003:

Microsoft Antimalware Real-Time Protection feature has encountered an error and failed.
Feature: Network Inspection Service
Error Code: 0x8007042c
Error description: The dependency service failed to start
Reason: The network inspection driver requires an up-to-date engine in order to function. You must install the latest updates and re-boot the device in order to enable real-time protection.
0x8007042c is pointing to the Firewall service. Which, in its turn, is UP and RUNNING WITHOUT ANY ERRORS.

As it gets weirder ...

...seems to be the proper way onwards.

You said otherwise defender work?

If you go to Event viewer, and select Application and service logs /Microsoft / Windows / Windows defender ( Operational and look for ev, n. 1151

Windows Defender Antivirus Network Inspection Service issues since Windows 10 2004 update

I went through the configuration for Real Time Protection and toggled them all on and off again. I then looked in the Event Viewer to see those 'events' reflected.

1. I turned it off... ok

Microsoft Defender Antivirus Real-time Protection scanning for malware and other potentially unwanted software was disabled.

2. I turned it on...

Microsoft Defender Antivirus Real-time Protection scanning for malware and other potentially unwanted software was enabled.

but it failed to start and I got an error 3002

Microsoft Defender Antivirus Real-Time Protection feature has encountered an error and failed.

Feature: Network Inspection System

Error Code: 0x8007042c

Error description: The dependency service or group failed to start.

Reason: The system is missing updates that are required for running Network Inspection System. Install the required updates and restart the device.

But like I said, I did the dism and sfc and there were no problems found -- do I need to reinstall defender?
