    Defender Soft ware


    I have Windows Defender on my desk top PC. The icon (shield) along the bottom of the screen for the Defender has a red "X" in the lower right corner. I have tried to get it to go away with no luck. In going into the program there is nothing wrong on my protection??? Oh am also running McAfee.

    How to remove (uninstall ) consumer input soft ware.. It is not even showing up in list of down loads.

    Malicious Soft Ware Removal Tool

    When the removal tool is updated on my pc it keeps telling me that Malicious Soft Ware was detected and partially removed from my computer the soft ware detected is Trojan: Win32/Kovter.C!reg Trojan: Win32/Kovter.gen!A My question do I need to shutdown
    my virus protection and just run Windows Defender to remove it?
