I'm running a fully patched win10, fully updated defender. Yesterday, had been coding an excel vba project for a period of time; I went to save the excel workbook and right at that moment, defender reported, stopping a trojan found in my contentie5 temp folder; excel reported the workbook could be saved and was unable to save (file corrupted or something). I thought it was strange, as I hadn't been actively browsing the internet. Defender reported 'Removal' a success. I didn't trust what had occurred, so shut system down and booted with a live rescue dvd, scanning my entire drive for any viral remnants. I used an updated 'malware bytes' from the rescue dvd; nothing turned up. I booted win10 afterwards , feeling secure, went about re-opening the excel project, for re-entering the previously lost updates (from previous failed save attempt). 5 mins later, went to save the workbook and defender pulled same message about a torjan. Since this occurrence, I removed my drive and started a fresh copy of win10 fully patched and updated. After re-attaching old drive via USB, have scanned it with defender and found no infections. I also can now update that excel workbook and save with no problems. Any idea's as to what that was about? Very strange.

    :)

Windows Defender detects an .exe as Win32/Bitrep.A Trojan?

OK, I had this software(earlier version) on another computer and never had it detected as a Trojan. I tried installing the latest version of this software on my new computer and it got detected as "Win32/Bitrep.A" Trojan after about a week of being installed
and Windows Defender deleted it. I tried re-downloading and then scanned the installation exe with Windows Defender and it detected it as the same Trojan. I then tried re-downloading again and Windows Defender deleted it as soon as it finished downloading.
The earlier version installation exe wasn't detected as a Trojan. I also tried a update exe to the software that wasn't the same version and nothing was detected. It seems to be with this certain version of the software or the update to this version. The developer
recommended installing the free version of Avast. Once installed, I scanned the installation exe with Avast and nothing was detected. Is there a Trojan with the software? According to Windows Defender there is. According to Avast there isn't.

    defender working?

Have ran a few full scans. Once it was detected and removed supposedly but I'm still seeing it and Defender is not detecting it? It is one of the tech support popups and Defender labled it "obfuscator Trojan". Any suggestions? And thanks for guiding me
to the task manager to close it but I'm not able to use Edge at all.
