    This morning Windows Update downloaded a Defender update I guess the Malicious Software update for April 2020 & failed with the above error. The KB2267602 Version 1.313.955.0 Failed to install.

    Hello

    When I run Windows Update I receive the following message concerning Windows Defender:


    Defender Update Failed error 0x80240017 The KB2267602 Version 1.313.955.0 Failed to install [​IMG]


    And when I try Windows Defender itself, I get the following:


    Defender Update Failed error 0x80240017 The KB2267602 Version 1.313.955.0 Failed to install [​IMG]


    The latest definition version installed is 1.245.410.0. Can anyone suggest what might be at fault here?

    Definition Update for Windows Defender - KB2267602 fails


    I checked my Update history and noticed that the Definition Update for Windows Defender - KB2267602 failed to install. I do not use Windows Defender as I use Norton Security. Windows Defender is grayed out. However, I think that the definitions should install anyway.

    Another problem is that W10 does not tell me why It failed. If I remember, under W8.1 I always got the error code to help me troubleshoot the problem.

    Anyone have any idea on what is going on and how to fix it?
