Windows 10: Defender works intermittently today is good

after an update to Win11 I lose Defender appToday it is fine

Logon intermittently bypasses Windows Hello Fingerprint

Hello Mosken,

When I didn't hear back from you I went ahead and re-set my Windows Hello Fingerprint. Three logons (with shutdowns in between) worked perfectly yesterday. But the first logon for today it was back to its old intermittent self to bypass Windows Hello and go straight to the desktop, with no security.

So, just like all the other 'fixes' I've tried over the past 2+ weeks, your four steps can be added to the list of all the things that don't work for this Windows Hello intermittent bypass and proceed straight to Windows Desktop issue.

Any other suggestions?

How Good is Defender?

Hello Mark. After trying a bunch of driver sites to a few things working for Windows 10 Tech Preview, Chrome would re-direct and a number of "Your computer is infected" **** pop-ups would keep coming up.

Windows Defender found nothing. I installed and updated Malware Bytes. MalewareBytes found 82 or 83 unwanted programs. I left it quarantine or remove them and now the internet works good again.

So, no I don't think Defender is very good.

I do like McAfee Live Safe. It will work on all your devices for one price ($8 on black Friday last year at Walmart), but alas, it will not install on Windows 10. I am not advertising for McAfee. I only like it because it was cheap and I have been able
to install it on four laptops, a tablet and desktop all for $8 and it seems good to me.

Depending where and whom you ask, you will get different replies...

In the end you have to decide for yourself which program you want to use...

No.

Windows Defender in Windows 7 is NOT an Anti-Virus program but only a very basic spyware protection. Meaning you need to install an Anti-Virus program.

A free one would be for example
Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE)

Upon installation of MSE, Windows Defender will be automatically disabled.
