    Defender Wrongly Classifying Executables Linked with GoLink


    A while back I started writing simple assembly programs as a learning exercise. I took a break for a bit because life got in the way but just came back to pick up where I left off. However, all the programs I have written are now getting classified as malicious. The detection code is: Trojan:Script/Wacatac.B!ml.I've taken the past few days to perform some testing, and it seems that GoLinkfound here: http://www.godevtool.com/ is what defender is triggering on. I've tried writing the same programs in c using GCC to compile, assemble, and link the programs, and Defender doesn't freak out. But,

    I'm only making a guess here. The key I exported was:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\htmlfile
