Windows 10: Defender

WTF is microsoft up to with this bloody defender.


I get 3 0r 4 updates a week and they take forever.


The last one took 10 minutes to download and install, but the hard drive is 100% busy for the last 20 minutes.


I am sick of Microsoft hogging my machine when I need it.


You cannot stop downloads and installs only restarts. Microsoft has now determined that I will follow their rules.


How do I get rid of the useless software and is there a decent free antivirus. I use to use AVG but it became so intrusive.


Nortons is far too intrusive.

Windows Defender problem

To troubleshoot this issue, we suggest that you check the Windows Defender service if it's running. If you are using a third party spyware/malware program, it may disable the Windows Defender service. To do this, please follow the steps below:

• Press Windows + R key.
• Type services.msc.
• Right-click Windows Defender service and click
  Start.

Let us know the result.

Installing Apps on Windows 10 Has Windows Defender Finding Malware

  Is this issue specific to third party apps?
  

I would suggest you to open Windows defender and add exclusions and check if it helps. Follow the steps to add exclusions in windows Defender.

  Type Windows defender settings in the search bar and press enter
  
• 
  Under Exclusions click on Add Exclusion
