Windows 10: Delay in microphone activation

Ever since the latest Windows update Windows 11, version 24H2 when I want to do something with the microphone there is always a delay for it to activate unless I just recently activated it, so if I used voice search like 20 seconds ago, there's no such delay, but two minutes is enough for the delay to reappear. So I have to wait like 5 seconds for it to activate. Is this fixable? It's especially annoying when I want to use the Google voice search in Chrome happens in Edge too because I already start talking because I'm used to it working instantly and then I have to say it again because

Microphone playback delay

Hi, I just bought a new USB microphone for my windows 10 PC. It works fine, however, I'd like to listen to myself while I record. I've followed all the steps to listen to the microphone, but there's a pretty noticeable delay in the audio. How do I fix
the delay? There's also no "levels" for the device I'm listening to it on. ( Gaming Headset)

We appreciate you posting your concern here in the Community forum. Follow these steps in order to remedy the issue:

1. Go to Settings.
2. Type in Sound.
3. Select Recording tab.
4. Select Microphone.
5. Click on Properties button.
6. Select Listen tab.
7. Uncheck Listen to this device.
8. Hit OK and go to Playback tab.
9. Select your playback device and use Properties button.
10. Select the Levels tab and unmute the microphone.

If those steps didn't fix it, try to unpair the connection and pair it again.

If issue is still there, you may try to update the driver with the use of the steps in this link.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps

Method 1: I suggest you to set microphone as default device and check.

• 
  Right click on the volume icon in the system tray and then click "Recording devices"
  
• 
  Right click on the blank space in the popped up window and then select "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices".
  
• 
  Right click on Microphone and then click "Enable".
  
• 
  Highlight the microphone and then choose "Set as Default Device".
  
• 
  Click Apply and OK.
  

Step 2: Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled.

  Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled. Follow the steps given to check that:
  
• 
  Right click on the volume icon and select “Recording devices”.
  
• 
  Now, Right Click on an empty space and select, “Show disconnected devices” and “Show disabled devices”.
  
• 
  Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled.
  

And also update the audio drivers from the manufacturer web site and install.
