Screensaver delay time resets to 1 on boot

Joan. So the screen saver needs to be set to what to come on? Seams like if its your scrolling pictures you would want it to come on at 1. Just wondering does the Cozi app show up on this list?

How to kill non-responding apps right away in XP

Nice registry tweak I found on the net, and works damn well.

    1) open regedit

    2) navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop

    3) change the following

    • AutoEndTasks value from 0 to 1
    • HungAppTimeout value from 5000 to 1000
    • WaitToKillAppTimeout value from 20000 to 3000
Now every time a non-responding app happens, no need to wait for it to end task, time out, or memory dump...this tweak nukes them right away.

Also, while your there, there is a small tweak to remove the delay of the start menu. The speed is significant.

    1) in the same location as above, change the value of MenuShowDelay from 400 to 5. <---restart system to apply changes.

Dragging apps to desktop for shortcuys

    Hi Lance,

It's possible that some settings are preventing you from adding shortcuts to the desktop. We'd like to learn more about your concern so that we could provide the proper resolution. We just have a few questions for you:

    • Which build version of Windows 10 is on your computer? To check, click
      Start
, type winver, and press Enter. For example, 14393.1066.
    • Does this happen when you try dragging all apps to the desktop, or just a specific app?
    • Are you using an administrator account?
    • Is your computer connected to a private domain?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

As an initial recommendation, we suggest following these steps as a workaround:

    • Right-click on any empty part of the desktop.
    • Click New > Shortcut.
    • Navigate to the folder location of the app you want and select it.
    • Click OK.

We look forward to your response and the result of the initial troubleshooting.
