Windows 10: Delays, mainly internet & file system (after reinstalling)

Not long ago my Win10 box was so slow I added another 8gb of DDR3 RAM & Windows dropped its guts. Couldn't restart. Couldn't use a restore point (a file was missing or messed up), so I inserted a SSD and reinstalled Win 10.

Since then irrespective of the browser I have a 10-12 second delay on anything that I click on.

Doing I/O with programs & I often get "not responding" for some time.

Another annoying issue is that drag & drop from File Explorer's file pane to the folder pane doesn't work. This was fixed in an update from my previous installation, but not with my current 1909 (OS Build 18363.657).

Thanks for any pointers of the internet delay. It's killing me.

Reinstallation of Internet explorer in Windows 10

Hi Rick,

I would like to inform that the Internet Explorer might be disabled from Windows Features. I suggest you to enable Internet Explorer by following the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Press Windows key + X and select Control Panel.
• Click on Programs and Features.
• In the left pane, click on Turn Windows features on or off.
• From the list locate and check the box for Internet Explorer 11.
• Click on OK.
• Restart the system and check.

System 32 files/ programs runs for a while and disappears on Windows 10

Step 1: I suggest you to sign-out from the current user account, restart the computer, resign-in and check with the status of this issue.

Step 2: I suggest you to run SFC scan and check if it helps.

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files. If a
Windows Resource Protection (WRP) file is missing or is corrupted, Windows may not behave as expected.

Follow the below steps:

• Right click on the Start button, click on
  Command Prompt (Admin).
• Type “sfc /scannow” without the quotes and hit
  Enter.
• After the scan, restart the computer and check for the issue.

Step 3: Also, I suggest you to install all the pending updates on Windows 10.

• Connect to the internet.
• Press Windows key and type
  updates.
• Click on Check for updates.
• Under Windows Updates, click on
  Check for updates.
• Try to install the updates being shown.

  Right click on the Start button, click on

  Type “sfc /scannow” without the quotes and hit

  After the scan, restart the computer and check for the issue.
  

Method 2: Run the DISM Tool.

If the issue persists, I would have you run the DISM tool to check the system health and will try to restore the files.

  Right click on the Start button, click on
  Command Prompt (Admin).
  
• 
  In the Administrator: Command Prompt window, type the following commands. Press the
  Enter key after each command:
  

• 
  DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth
  
  
• 
  DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
  

3. To close the Administrator: Command Prompt window, type
Exit, and then press Enter.
Note: The tool might take 15-20 minutes to finish running, so please do not cancel it.
