May not be appropriate flair, so do tell me what to change it to if it's not.

Update in question is KB4552931. The reason i deleted it is because i heard it had been causing problems for some users, and i didn't want anything like that to happen to me, so i went into SoftwareDistribution after reading a tutorial, found the update file(s), and removed it. Thought that would take care of...apparently not. It still shows up in Update, and it wants to restart to install it.

As someone who's a bit paranoid with stuff like this admittedly, and having seen no one else share something like this and get answers, i do want to wonder real quick. Will it not being in SoftwareDistribution cause any issues itself, and not just with installing the update, but other issues on the computer? Did it pop back up without knowing, or is this another case with me being paranoid?

    Deleting the "SoftwareDistribution" Files

I noticed that "Depending on your HDD Space and you made sure your Updated on Windows 7" that you can delete all the Files "Going into Safe-Mode of course" but i saw a .Txt File that shows the Updates you've installed "That i deleted by mistake" but by deleting that File i saw the updates needed to be installed again but i knew weren't true.

So yeah what ya' think? Should this be a good idea? I saw that over 3GB worth of files!

How do i delete Windows 10 update 1709 failures

    Hi Ron,

The default location of downloaded Windows Update files is

C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download. To delete the contents of this folder, follow these steps:

    • Open File Explorer.
    • Go to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download.
    • Press Ctrl and A at the same time to select all the files in the folder.
    • Press Shift and Delete at the same time to delete everything. If you're prompted for permission to permanently delete the files, click
      Yes.
    • Restart your computer.

Additionally, if you haven't done it yet, we suggest using the troubleshooting steps in this

    article
