Windows 10: Deleted programs still showing in start menu

I decided that now is as good a time as any to learn Python, so I went to download the latest version 3.9.0. After downloading it, I used the Windows search bar to find that 3.8 was already installed from a previous attempt at learning Python.


I clicked on 3.8 where it prompted "Modify, Repair, Uninstall". After uninstalling, it's unfortunately still there. The files are nowhere to be found, and I can't interact with them. This is what I see:




I have tried logging out, restarting, uninstalling 3.9 so there are no current versions of python, and restarting Cortana in task manager. An old post on Microsoft recommended renaming this file: "C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_cw5n1h2txyewy" on reboot, but I don't believe this file exists anymore. I would have just ignored it, but it seems to conflict with Python 3.9.


I'm out of ideas and would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

Vista - Weird error trying to delete Start Menu item

Hey mate (yes im from australia)

I had this problem just before and fixed it pretty easily.
Have to use the good old command prompt and delete from there.
Windows is just gettin shitter and shitter isnt it. might go back to DOS soon lol

Steps> CMD in run > go to the folder (start menu folder) > type: DEL (watever the filename is) and if it says from filename put in the shortname eg. 034Michael short would maybe be 034Mich~l or sumthing like that.

THIS WILL WORK, THIS HAS HAPPEN TO ME 4 TIMES NOW LOL fukin vista!!*Bang Head :banghead:

 

Applications still showing on Start menu after powershell deletion


Hi,

I've used powershell to remove some apps (like Xbox games).

On one account, it cleaned up the start menu just fine.

Second account, they were showing on the start menu, so I ran powershell again and verified everything was gone that I wanted, but Xbox is still showing on the menu list. *Not* as a tile, but in the "All Apps" list. I have also tried looking at the Start Menu in File Explorer for that User and can not see the App listed.

Suggestions?

Vista - Weird error trying to delete Start Menu item

I'm trying to delete an unneeded folder from the Start Menu. I right-click and then "Explore", navigate to "Programs", select the folder and press delete.

It won't let me delete the folder! (It is an empty folder.) The error that comes up is:

The thing is, the folder IS there. I'm sitting here looking at it. Why is Windows telling me it doesn't exist, and more importantly, how can I finally delete this useless empty folder which is cluttering up my Start Menu?
