Windows 10: Deleted user account

    I have done something really stupid... I am selling my old laptop to a friend, and googled how to delete my user account. I did what it said and deleted a post in the register. Not anywhere on the page did it say that I shouldn't delete the account without creating a new one first. Now I can't get in the computer... When I start it it shows "my icon" and my name, and below that it says: (translated) The service User Profile Service failed to log in. It's not possible to read the user profile.

    So how do I fix this?

    Thanks for the answer. In the meantime, I went through the registry and changed the path for the former user to mine. Hopefully, the new software will see my account, instead of the other user path.

    Hi Donna. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

    Unfortunately there's no way to remove the original Account User folder, for some Security reason that goes all the way back but they wont' explain.

    Some users claim that they've found a way but I've helped enough recover from Sign in failures that result that I don't recommend them.

    I've not heard any reason that it can't be just ignored until you reinstall when it is of course wiped off the PC.
