Deleted Wi-Fi from Control Panel Adapter Settings

A couple of months ago, I was staying in a hotel on a public network. After connecting to it, my laptop freaked out and I could not connect wirelessly. I tried fixes to address the problem, but none worked. Eventually, I tried disabling Wi-Fi from Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Change Adapter Settings. After that, all traces of my Wi-Fi adapter disappeared from my system. I was able to connect via Ethernet in my room, and eventually forgot about my problem. Now I have moved to a more permanent location with roommates. Unfortunately, my problem persi

    USB Wi-Fi Adapter Disabling

Is it on Windows 8's compatibility list (check MS website- forgot link)?

I had an issue with one Wi-fi adapter and it wasn't listed as compatible- All was well when I swapped it out with one on the compatibility list

Wi-fi adapter doesn't work after upgrading to Windows 10.

    Hi,

    • What exactly happens when you try to connect to Wi-Fi?

    • Have you updated all the Wi-Fi drivers?
You may follow the steps provided below and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

Method 1: Run Internet Connection Troubleshooter.

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with Internet connection. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the
    issue is with your internet.

    Refer these steps:

    • Press Windows key +X, select Control panel.
    • Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons.
    • Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel.
    • Run the Internet Connection troubleshooter.
Method 2: Download and install the latest firmware updates for the Wi-Fi adapter.

Follow these steps to un-install the drivers:

    • On the search bar type “Device Manager”

    • On the left pane locate “Network Adapter” and expand by clicking on it

    • Right on the “Wireless adapter” option and click “Uninstall’

    • Download the latest Wireless network adapter driver setup file from the manufacturer’s website and install it.

Hope this helps. If the issue remains unresolved, please get back to us and we would be happy to help.

    Trouble Changing Wi-Fi Password

I've been following the following steps to change my Wi-Fi password for some time:

    1. Launch Control Panel.
    2. Click "Network and Internet."
    3. Click "Network and Sharing Center."
    4. Click "Wi-Fi...."
    5. Click "Wireless Properties."
    6. Click the Security tab.
    7. Check "Show characters."
    8. Enter the password in "Network security key."
Those steps have been working just fine, but today I discovered a new wrinkle. If I change the password inside the router first, "Wi-Fi..." doesn't appear in step 4. This isn't much of a problem at home, because I can just change the password in Control Panel before I change it inside the router, but it would be a problem at a public hotspot, or something of that nature. I also tested Brink's instructions in "How to Connect To a Wireless Network in Windows 10," but they don't work for me either. How can I fix this?
