    recycle bin

    Hi George,

To prevent your files from being deleted from the Recycle Bin, we suggest increasing the maximum file size your Recycle Bin can keep by following the steps below:

    • Right click on the Recycle Bin icon.
    • Under the Settings for selected location, select Custom size.
    • Fill up the box for your allotted maximum file size for your Recycle Bin.
Let us know if you need further assistance.

  3. deleted files not in recycle bin and does not show free space

    Hi TadPole,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

As you said even after the deleting files from USB didn’t free up the space in it, I suggest you to backup all your files from the USB and format it once. Then check the space files are consuming. And if you delete any files from USB it wont be shown
    in Recycle Bin.

    Hope this information helps.

Deleting files too large for recycling bin not freeing up space

How to free space after emptying Recycle Bin?

I recorded several large video files and ran out of disk space. Moved those files to a backup drive and deleted the originals.
    Then emptied the Recycle Bin.

The disk size in 'This PC' and also in Settings didn't change, still shows the drive as almost full.

Searched for temp files created by the video recording software. Nothing.

Deleted a bunch of other large files, several gigabytes, and emptied the Recycle Bin again. No change in the free space reported.

So I ran the PowerShell command given in the discussion at:
Empty Recycle Bin in Windows 10

    Same result.

Ran 'sfc /scannow' . It found and corrected some corrupt system files.

    Powered down and back up.

Ran 'sfc /scannow' again. No problems reported this time.

But the free space on the drive is exactly what it was at the beginning, almost full.

    Windows 10 21H1 (OS Build 19043.1165)
