    Deleting Folder from Windows 10

    Good Morning, and Happy Easter

There is a folder on the desktop of my wife's windows 10 PC that I cannot delete,

If I left click on the folder, entitled Mirror Image, message says folder empty, but if I right click on the folder then left click on properties it shows that the size is 175 GB. This amounts to approx. 70% of what is on the hard drive.

I googled this problem and have tried all the suggestions, including trying in safe mode. The last thing I tried was:
    CMD
    C:\Users\Catherine>cd /d C:\Users\Catherine\Desktop

    C:\Users\Catherine\Desktop>dir /x

The file in question has the short name of MIRROR~1
    C:\Users\Catherine\Desktop>rmdir /q /s MIRROR~1

When I press enter nothing happens. No further text, Nothing The cursor is flashing but I am unable to enter anything.

    :)

Windows 10 Mail "Deleted Items" and "Trash" Folders

I just started using Windows 10 Mail and I'm trying to figure how the different folders work. There is a folder titled "Deleted Items" and another titled "Trash". What is the difference between these folders? It seems that when you delete an email from
the "Inbox" or "Sent Items" folders sometimes it goes to the "Deleted Items" folder and sometimes it goes to the "Trash" folder. Also, if you delete an email from the "Deleted Items" folder I would assume that it is permanently deleted but sometimes it seems
to go to the "Trash" folder. From this folder it seems that an email can be permanently deleted.

How are these folders suppose to work?

    Thanks

Moved from: Windows / Windows 10 / Windows settings

    Deleting Folder from Windows 10

In File Explorer Browse to C:\Users\Catherine\Desktop in this folder, open the Mirror folder, delete the files inside. If the files are locked, try LockHunter to remove the lock,

Many thanks for your reply, but when I try to open the folder, it says the folder is empty

OK, then right click the folder and delete it in the Users\Catherine\Desktop folder. Download LockHunter to unlock it.

There may be corruption on your C: drive.
Press the Win key+X and choose Command Prompt (Admin) or PowerShell (Admin) type chkdsk /R and press enter. Now type a Y for Yes and reboot the computer. Check Disk will run at next bootup and take some time. It will check for Orphaned files and remove them and check for Bad Sectors that this file may reside on.

    Hi Spunk

Have done that twice today, and each time it took about three hours. On both occasions it stuck on 17% for over 150 minutes, but it restarted with no report on the findings.

Nothing has changed. Folder is not locked, folder says empty, but when I try to delete it it gets up to 173 GB, then continues to add files but the size never increases.

Have you tried renaming the folder to eight characters? Gets rid of the space between Mirror and Image; and allows the DOS to recognize the folder name in its entirety.

Another possibility, from way out in left field, it is a virtual mirror image of a virtual folder that exists in one's user folder under Searches. Given the folder's size, 0/173GB, this is typical of a virtual folder under Searches.

    Hi Everyone

    Just an update.

Nothing suggested on this , or on other forums, has proved successful in removing this folder from the PC.

I have however found a solution. I recently subscribed to Acronis True Image 2018, which backs up not only files and folders to the cloud but also the contents of the hard drive - mirror image . Discussing this problem with their support team I was advised that there is a facility to exclude any file/folder one chooses. I have therefore started a full backup of my wife's PC excluding the folder said to contain 175 GB. When this is done I can reformat her hard drive and then reinstall the mirror image which will not have this obstinate folder on it.

    Thanks for all your suggestions.
