I've been having this issue for months now, and I still don't know how to fix it. Sometimes I have to even use aps like FileASSASSIN to remove some files, due to it crashing all the time.Sometimes it just doesn't show or do anything when I do something with my files, or the task manager is stuck at 0% when I'm moving them.It happens with small files as well KB and MB.The system is Windows 10, and I'm an admin, btw.

File explorer crashing on windows 11 when renaming, moving or deleting PDF files

I have windows 11 and everytime I want to rename, delete or move a pdf file, my file explorer crashes. What is the cause and how can I fix? The only way i found around moving and renaming is by opening the pdf in microsoft edge and saving as a new file, which creates duplicates

Can't open or rename file (name is too long) WTF?

    Solved!!!!!

    Use 7zip.

open the 7zip file manager, go to the folder of the long name file, select the file, right click on it and select "rename".
erase some of the words of the file and press enter.

    regards!!!!!

can not delete or move or rename pdf file

You can delete or rename the file using the internal syntax, as below:

From a Command Prompt window, type:

    • del "\\?\D:\username\Downloads\filename.jpg"

Of course, replace "filename.jpg" with the actual file name.

    (or)

Download WinRAR or 7-Zip and run it. Using the file manager interface of WinRAR/7-Zip, rename the PDF to a shorter name or Shift + Del to permanently delete the file.
