Windows 10: Deleting or removing unneeded printer updates

I upgraded my laptop to Windows 10 right after Win10 was released and, when I was trying to attach my HP 5740 Wifi printer using the driver cd, two updates appeared in the Windows Update dialog that will not install, nor can I remove them.

Is there a way to get rid of these two updates from the Windows Update dialog?

Why is the critical step of removing all old printer drivers (Step 5) in the Printui dialogue the same as Step 6 right clicking the printer in Devices and Printers to delete it and restart PC?

After you install the printer software in Print 8 you did a lot of other things with a Desktop app that are not in the list and unneeded. Why were these necessary instead of just selecting a .pdf document to print and trying it?

The reason I ask is that I've suggested these steps countless times and they have always worked if only they are followed, not adding a bunch of steps at the end.

Can I have help moving or deleting some unneeded parts of Windows or programs to free up some space on a crowded drive?

I don't understand how this could be but I found an entire duplicate set of my data files that I normally have saved on my D: HDD that had been saved onto my C: drive in a folder named ALL. I deleted them since I don't need them.





I even make a weekly backup copy on a USB thumbdrive as a safety.

So I deleted all of that extra junk and now I've got tons of space!

 

Meaning just want to clear them from Windows update is all ? Where you ever able to install your printer and it's drivers ?

Yes, this is what I want to do. I was able to download the Windows drivers for my printer and it works just fine.

 

Weird HP site showed built in drivers in Windows 10 for your model, so wondering why windows update would show any, unless some new ones came out that HP not showing at there site. Only way i saw to remove drivers from appearing or clearing windows update.

Just hide the relevant updates to be excluded, as described in this tutorial.
