Windows 10: Deleting system files from an old hard drive

I followed this script:

OK, open a Command Prompt window as Administrator

Windows + X keys together and then select Command Prompt Admin from the resulting menu


Run each of these commands and press enter after each one, this will remove the old Program Files Folder

Replace Z with the drive letter of your second drive:


takeown /F "Z:\Program Files\" /A /R /D Y
cacls "Z:\Program Files\*.*" /T /grant administrators:F
rmdir /s /q "Z:\Program Files\"


Then repeat the process, replacing Program Files with Windows to remove the old Windows folder ."

I could delete and successfully remove the folder "Program Files" but with folders "Program Files x86 and "Windows" when applied the command "rmdir /s /q "Z:\Windows\" the result for each item is "Access is denied"!


Could there be something wrong with those two folders?

Delete Files from old hard drive

I have replaced my hard disc drive (C) with a cloned Solid state drive. I am using my old hard disc drive now (E) for storage only. When I attempt to delete old files (operating system, etc.) off the hard disc drive (E), i get a message that says I'm required
to provide administrator permission to delete any files or folders. How can I do this?

I have an old hard drive that has those old ribbon connections to transfer data to the mother board.

I have a new computer that mostly uses those cool little ATA (I think that is what they are called) connections.

The new computer has a Vista OS.

I opened up the case and I was supprised to see on the motherboard a wide ribbon connection and so I connected the old hard drive and a free power connection.

When I turned on the computer, the system started up like usual and did not notice the new hard drive.

I went to the Control Pannel and did an automatic add hard drive call and it did not find the old hard drive.

Any suggestions?
