    Deleting a shortcut to a Drive without deleting the whole drive.

    Hi,

    This issue might occur if there are system files corruption because when a shortcut is deleted it should not delete the original folder. Follow the link and check if that helps.

    Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files     . Try to delete the shortcut and let us know the status. Thank you.

    Deleting a shortcut to a Drive without deleting the whole drive.

    Again, I downloaded the program: Unlocker, and that program cleared the hang up and allowed me to delete the files. Thanks.

    After a Windows Upgrade, by default, after 30 days it will delete itself, but if you wish, you can also remove the Windows.old folder manually, running disk cleanup and selecting the option to remove older versions of windows is the easiest way. Be sure to copy any files that you may want out of the Windows.old folder before you delete it. Once deleted, they are gone, you will no longer be able to go back to a previous version of Windows.
